February 2003

Here are the pictures from our February 2003 trip.

We really had a blast this year with 11 inches of fresh powder overnight on the first day. It really made up for last year.

Late March 2002

What? No pictures from 2002? That's right... unfortunately, the snow was so bad this late in the season (March 29th - April 1st), that we didn't even bother taking any pictures! We only went skiing once, and it was way too crusty and slushy. Not a trace of fresh powder. Next year, there's no way we're going this late, it's February of bust...

February 2001

The first two pictures are from the Brewery in Whitefish. It's a great place to go for a few cheap beers and laughs.

Directions from Calgary

The distance from Calgary to Whitefish is about 475 KM, so it usually takes about 5 hours to get there, if you don't have problems at the border, or with the weather.

Take Highway 2 south out of Calgary, turn right (west) onto Highway 3 to Crowsnest Pass. Follow Highway 3 through Fernie, and turn south at Elko onto Highway 93 to cross the border at the Point of Rooseville. From there just go south on US-93. From US-93 you'll enter Whitefish, turn LEFT (North) onto Baker Ave. Head (North) over the Viaduct (it's a bridge), go straight onto Wisconsin Ave through the lights. 3 miles ahead, turn RIGHT (North) onto Big Mountain Rd. This road lead to big mountain, about half way up you'll find Ptarmigan Village, on the right hand side of the road. (If you go all the way up the hill, 8 miles, you'll hit Big Mountain, the ski hill). Once you're in Ptarmigan village find Unit 87 Limber Pine. Have a look at the village map (click here) to get an idea of where it is.
